Job Duties and Responsibilities

SlingTV is looking for a dynamic Software Engineer.  The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of programming basics in C, C++ and Python.  The responsibilites will include:


  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of Dynamux (Python/Django/C++), our video lifecycle management and delivery system
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of our DRM stack, including support for PlayReady (C#), FairPlay and Widevine (Python), and our own KeyStore (python/django)

Skills - Experience and Requirements

A successful Software Engineer will possess:


  • Bachelors degree and 4 years of related experience or Master’s degree and 2 years of related experience, preferably in computer science, computer engineering or other technical (STEM) field or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Minimum of 3 years developing software using C or C++
  • Minimum of 2 or more years of software development using Python


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience interfacing with ffmpeg libraries
  • Python/Django experience is a positive, but not necessarily required
  • Linux system administration (Ubuntu)
  • Experience developing or using software related to encoding or decoding of digital video and/or audio
  • Experience developing software related to encryption/decryption of data especially digital video and/or audio
  • Experience with Digital Rights Management (DRM) and related technologies
  • Excellent communication skills necessary to be part of a highly collaborative software engineering team
  • Fast learner that can dive in to just about any job and quickly contribute
  • Professional pride in generating clean, reliable, easy to maintain code
  • The ability to create clear, easy-to-read documentation in code and, as required, in associated end-user documentation
  • A positive and proactive attitude toward finding solutions, meeting commitments, and assisting others, pitching in wherever is most needed
