Job Duties and Responsibilities

At Dish the Testing and Quality Assurance (TQA) team’s mission is to ensure that the software we deliver meets the business needs and allows for a positive customer experience.  As a member of the TQA Team, the IVR Software Test Engineer is responsible for leading and contributing as part of a team of onshore and offshore testers in a fast-paced IT environment for multiple applications.  They will ensure that all software meets the business requirements by designing and executing test scenarios that exercise all required test conditions.


Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories:

  • Having a solid understanding of the IVR flow and dependencies
  • Interacting with Development teams and Business partners on a regular basis
  • Responsible for writing and maintaining manual test scripts and test suites
  • Responsible for writing and maintaining automation test scripts and test suites where applicable
  • Maintain manual and automation test documents and reports
  • Work with agile tools to integrate test results or automated tests running from a continuous integration environment


Skills - Experience and Requirements

A successful IVR Software Test Engineer will have the following:

  • Experience and solid understanding of the IVR flow and its dependencies 
  • Knowledge of a testing tool such as HP ALM is desirable 
  • Strong analytical (ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions), organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong desire to succeed and contribute individually and as a member of a team
  • Hands on knowledge of SQL or other database query tools required
  • Software testing certifications or training are desirable
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment.  Experience in working in both Waterfall and Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Strong understanding in programming concepts.           
  • Experience with open source test automation platforms (Selenium) or HP Automation tools.
  • Knowledge of SOA methodology and Web service testing.
  • Experience with build automation platforms such as Jenkins is a plus
  • Experience with scripting languages and programming languages such as Java is a plus.
  • Ability to lead, mentor and train TQA staff members. 
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University; or five years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
