Job Duties and Responsibilities

Dish Network IT Security is tasked with addressing information security concerns across the enterprise. Under the direction of the CISO (who reports directly to the CIO) the IT Security team carries out duties of protecting the company’s information assets.

 

Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories: 

  • Analyze and document activities identified via SIEM or other correlation engines.
  • Perform security assessments utilizing various security related applications.
  • Work with multiple teams throughout IT on remediation activities.
  • Participate in Incident Response activities.

Skills - Experience and Requirements

A successful Security Professional will have the following:

 

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline; or equivalent work experience and certifications.
  • Ability to monitor and analyze high availability cyber threat technical countermeasures.
  • Knowledge of network protocols, data flows, and vulnerabilities within a TCP/IP environment.
  • Have a solid understanding of common vulnerabilities associated with operating systems and applications.
  • Ability to perform network protocol analysis and raw data capture.
  • An understanding of dynamic routing protocols and static routing.
  • Some proficiency in programming and scripting languages common to security such as Perl, PHP, or Python. Advanced scripting skills a huge plus.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience in making presentations to both technical and executive level audiences.
  • Hands on experience with technologies such as TippingPoint, Snort, F5 Big IP, Nessus is a plus
  • Functional knowledge of Linux operating systems including Ubuntu, CentOS, and/or open-source tools such as NMAP, Wireshark, Kali Linux, etc.
  • Knowledge of PCI-DSS/SOX methodologies and processes is a plus
