Job Duties and Responsibilities

Summary:

Dish Technologies, in Englewood, CO, is looking for a Linux Systems Administrator that has experience in Systems Administration working directly with Developers to design, build, maintain and deploy applications in a 24x7 production and development environment.

 

Duties and Responsibilities     

  • Administer CentOS, Red Hat, Ubuntu, SUSE Enterprise and Open Suse.
  • Maintains optimal system performance with system monitoring, analysis, and performance tuning.
  • Troubleshoots system hardware, software, networks and operating system.
  • Defines system and operational policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of standard system tools with the ability to automation complex system tasks through scripting.
  • Establishes system by planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of web application server hardware, software, LANs and WANs.
  • Secures system by developing system access, monitoring, and controls.
  • Establishes, tests and documents disaster recovery policies and procedures.
  • Educates users and conducts training during resolution of issues.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
  • Experience with Apache Tomcat

Skills - Experience and Requirements

A successful Linux Systems administrator will have a BS Computer Science or MIS/CIS/CE or equivalent experience and 3 years of Linux/Unix systems administration.

As well as:

  • 3 years experience with, Bash, Python and Perl writing and debugging scripts for server administration.
  • 2 year experience with Version Control Software such as Git, or Subversion

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Willing to learn and grow.
  • Shell Scripting with Bash
  • Programming languages such as Perl or Python
  • Developing Standards
  • TCP/IP or UDP
  • Network or Packet Sniffers such as WireShark,
  • Firewalls
  • Routers
  • Proxy Servers
  • Virtualization software such as VM Ware, Proxmox, Virtual Box or KVM
  • Cloud Computing
  • Being On-Call
