Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Dish Network IT Security Manager is tasked with addressing information security concerns across the enterprise. Under the direction of the CISO the IT Security team carries out duties of protecting the company’s information assets.


Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories:

  • Delivers leadership, guidance, and mentoring to the IT Security team.
  • Demonstrates proactive leadership by identifying major vulnerabilities and guiding the enterprise through remediation activities.
  • Manage a high profile, demanding team who manages many applications and operational functions.
  • Work with multiple teams across many disciplines.
  • Participate in Incident Response activities.


Skills - Experience and Requirements

A successful Security Manager will have the following:


  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline; or equivalent work experience and certifications.
  • 3-5 years of cybersecurity experience in one or more areas: network, infrastructure, software development or data analysis
  • Ability to mentor and grow members of the team
  • Knowledge of network protocols, data flows, and vulnerabilities within a TCP/IP environment.
  • Have a solid understanding of common vulnerabilities associated with operating systems and applications.
  • Some proficiency in programming and scripting languages common to security such as Perl, PHP, or Python. Advanced scripting skills a huge plus.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience in making presentations to both technical and executive level audiences.
  • Hands on experience with technologies such as TippingPoint, Snort, F5 Big IP, Nessus is a plus
  • Knowledge of PCI-DSS/SOX methodologies and processes is a plus
