    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    Dish is seeking a Systems Engineer at its Cheyenne, WY, data center to work on creating next generation systems with tools such as Linux, SaltStack, Docker, and EMC storage technologies.  This position is also responsible for providing subject matter escalation of applications for the Network Operations Center. 

     

    Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories:

    • Provide Tier 3 escalated application/systems support
    • Perform fault management and problem resolution in a highly complex, mission critical Data Center environment
    • Work closely with other departments to ensure problem resolution and minimize time to restore.
    • Systems change management: support modifications, maintenance to complex data center systems
    • Perform software and hardware upgrades to maintain the high performance requirements of the environment
    • Lead implementation of new systems into production systems
    • Ensure that data center documentation is kept up-to-date.

    Skills - Experience and Requirements

    The successful Systems Engineer  will have:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline and 4 or more years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • 3 or more years with a Linux distribution such as Ubuntu, Debian or CentOS
    • Must be able to participate in on-call rotation
    • 3 or more years years of experience with one or more of the following: KVM, VMWare,  Kubernetes or Docker
    • 2 or more years of experience with one or more of the following: EMC Isilon, EMC VNX, and EMC XtremeIO

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Scripting experience in one or more languages (Python, Java, Shell)
    • Experience with Object Storage  technologies
    • Experience supporting computer systems within a live production service environment, managing database configurations and administration including knowledge of SQL
    • Familiarity with network architectures including web servers, web caches, databases, storage area networks, clustered storage systems, routing, etc
