Job Duties and Responsibilities

Design, develop and execute functional applications for TV’s back-end DVR; design and develop external facing application programming interface that communicate with various communication and data systems; develop code to detect EPG changes and update future (scheduled) recordings; design and develop RESTful APIs and message queue communication between various components; tune SQL queries, code and architecture to optimize performance for large scale load. Req’s: MS in Computer Science, Computing,  Computer Applications, or closely related field and 2 years of experience in job offered or as  Systems Engineer or related field; OR a combination of BS in same fields plus 5 years’ progressive post-baccalaureate experience; or any suitable combination of education, training, and/or work experience. Requires 2 years of experience using C++, Python, Django, Celery, Go Lang, RabbitMQ, RESTful framework, SQL, Nginx, Salt, UNIX and Jenkins.

 

Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories:

 

  • Responsible for all aspects of managing our Storage Area Network (SAN) and Backup environments, including: but not limited to, installation, monitoring, provisioning, backup & recovery, and tuning
  • Work effectively with teams across various teams/customers of BAS services
  • Methodical troubleshooting, clear communications, and attention to detail
  • In-depth knowledge of EMC, Brocade, Symantec, and NetApp
  • Thin provisioning, data de-duplication, replication/snapshot services, encryption are all highly desired experience
  • Moderate experience in: Windows 2003/ 2008, HP-UX 11.23/11.31, Solaris 9/10

Skills - Experience and Requirements

A successful Storage Admin will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from four-year college or university; or two years related experience and/or training; and one plus years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in SAN management and with storage troubleshooting
  • 3+ years of experience with Windows Server, UNIX, HP-UX, Red Hat and Solaris
  • Experience with Symantec NetBackup, tape libraries, tape encryption, VTL (Data Domain) and with EMC (Clariion, DMX/Symm, VMAX if possible)
  • Virtual Tape Libraries experience for backup and recovery effectiveness
  • Strong experience with NetApp from NAS (network area storage) solutions
