    The Training & Development Manager is responsible for the overall direction and guidance of Distribution, Manufacturing, and Quality training that is focused on improving employee functional performance. This role may act as a resource to partner organizations such as Human Resources and Corporate LEAD training to assist with design, deployment, and facilitation, if required, of programs where need arise. 

    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    • Manage functional training development, execution and updates
    • Responsible for the management of staff that develops, designs and deploys content for all Manufacturing, Distribution and Quality
    • Manage the overall direction of needs analysis and processes that support analysis
    • Identify and resolve functional skill gaps of team and training catalogue
    • Assist business partners in identification of need and pilot of training programs. These may include HR, legal, business or other as identified or requested by the business
    • Ensure transition of content, delivery and local management of training course work to site training managers
    • Determine and manage budgetary, system, and technical requirements to support training efforts
    • Ensure that accurate and useful records are kept of training course attendees
    • Provide direction to the training and development staff regarding training techniques, and course content improvement
    • Through direct reports and development staff, provide support for the departmental career ladder by scheduling and conducting training sessions to ensure customer demand is covered in an efficient and effective manner
    • Act as a mentor to lower level staff. Design or contract with external vendors, training certification programs to grow team and team skills
    • Engage in the typical responsibilities of a manager including planning, evaluating, controlling and tracking against goals, budget, and timetables
    • Responsible for the supervision of staff including hiring, performance management, training and mentoring
    • Support technology initiatives, either local or corporate, to ensure the business need is identified and supported, includes development of requirements, testing, validating and commissioning new information systems

    Skills - Experience and Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university
    • 8+ plus years of experience including 2 years of management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Ability to read/analyze/interpret complex documents and respond to the most sensitive inquiries/complaints.
    • Able to write speeches/articles, to make persuasive presentations on controversial/complex topics to management, the public, and board of directors
    • Experience in a manufacturing, assembly plant strongly desired

    • Training, certification and experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and Toyota Production System strongly preferred
