Job Duties and Responsibilities

DISH Technologies is seeking a Senior Technician to join our Locals Engineering Team.  The Locals Engineering Team monitors, troubleshoots and repairs the Local Receive Facilities in over 200 locations nationwide. 


Primary responsibilities will fall into the following categories:

  • Monitor signal quality, troubleshoot and make necessary adjustments to audio, video and RF equipment via remote connections.
  • Work closely with Field Engineers during onsite maintenance activities providing support and documentation.
  • Provide guidance and training to Locals Engineering Technicians to confirm, troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies escalated by the TOC.
  • Generate process and update the ticketing database as well as the Locals Engineering database regarding local channel services.
  • Create concise detailed shift reports for use by other group members.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the HD systems and their operation.
  • Perform engineering level work including software upgrades to digital gear.
  • Establish a working knowledge of the uplink and the interaction between other departments as well as the fiber network between uplinks.
  • Rotating shift work may be required according to the needs of the business. 





Skills - Experience and Requirements

The successful Senior Technician will have:

  • Associates’ degree or technical certificate in electronics, television broadcast communications or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance knowledge of demodulator and encoder equipment. 
  • Understanding of signal flow from LRF to Uplink through compression.
  • Technical aptitude and an advanced understanding of broadcasting and RF systems.
  • Proficiency  with Excel, Visio, Word and Project.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and be willing to teach, train and support other team members.
