    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    The Technical Writer is a member of a highly-motivated group responsible for partnering with multiple IT and business teams in order to create various types of user documentation, including user guides, programmers guides, references, manuals, cheat sheets, or instructions.  They should have the ability to evaluate and understand complex business problems, their technical implications and potential solutions.  The candidate must bring a strong desire to grow relationships with respective IT and business partners in a collaborative environment.  The ideal candidate is detail oriented and has demonstrated the ability to comprehend complex technical systems.

     

    Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories:

     

    • Evaluate audiences to assess the appropriate level of detail for documentation assignments.
    • Research and analyze complex technical systems. As well as, review and consume existing documentation in a variety of formats.
    • Extract relevant information from subject matter experts in a professional manner in order to develop reproducible methods for generating clear and concise documentation in accordance with professional standards.
    • Ascertain and evaluate effective document presentation methods.
    • Draft consistent documentation that proves valuable to a variety of audiences.
    • Determine and present ideas for future documentation projects.

    Skills - Experience and Requirements

    A successful Technical Writer will have the following: 

     

    • Bachelors in a business or a technical discipline (Courses of study focusing on written communication are preferred. Writing samples may be requested.); at least two years of experience; and/or equivalent experience.
    • Possess a highly motivated can-do-attitude.
    • Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
    • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation skills.  Strong collaboration and facilitation skills. 
    • Agile or modified Agile experienc. 
    • Experience with web services documentation including: Web Sequence Diagrams, Network Interface Diagrams, Use Cases, Data-Modeling, UML, Process Models.
