    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    The Software Test Automation Manager is responsible for leading and directing a team of test engineers to develop the supporting automation framework for and execute automated scripts for STB satellite receivers and related applications; responsible for test planning, resource management, and system architecture development for automation tools and applications; oversee automation efforts using Selenium, Java, and other tools as needed; coordinate efforts with other teams to negotiate priorities and to meet and adjust to changing test objectives; address system stability, upgrades, and defects; respond to status and issues impacting software engineering testing efforts; review test activities to ensure timely accurate test results.


    Primary responsibilities include:

    • Lead, review, and plan development and testing activities to ensure accurate test results, test data, and reporting
    • Define processes, procedures, best practices, coding standards, metrics for ensuring stability in the automation frameworks
    • Effectively communicate status, issues, and needs to the team, management, and internal customers
    • Develop team members through coaching, mentoring, training, and technical guidance
    • Organize demos and proof of concepts for new applications, tools, technologies, infrastructure, and processes
    • Develop and increase team performance and collaboration across organization
    • Provide testing strategies and approaches in alignment with overall organizational goals

    Skills - Experience and Requirements

    The successful Test Manager will have:


    • BS/MS in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or related technical degree; or equivalent amount of education and experience
    • 5 years of experience leading teams in automated software test solutions
    • 3 years of experience using Java, J2EE, Selenium, Hibernate, Django, Maven, and Linux
    • 3 years of working knowledge and understanding of release processes, test flows, software development processes and system operations

    Preferred Requirements/Qualifications

    • Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
    • 5+ years of experience in a management role
    • Leadership and design responsibilities in developing automation frameworks
    • Ability to stay current with emerging technologies and trends in automation
    • Experience in testing and developing APIs and web services
    • ISTQB Certified Tester, Foundation and Advanced Level
    • Experience in Digital Media and/or Consumer Electronics industry
