    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    Dish Technologies, in Englewood CO, has an opening for an Embedded Software Engineer II who will design, develop and maintain set-top-box applications for DBS satellite and Internet based whole home audio/video entertainment solutions.

     

    Primary responsibilities:

    • Assist in designing and developing exciting features 
    • Help maintain and extend existing implementations and systems 
    • Decompose tasks, define milestones, create schedules and estimated development resources for projects  
    • Actively contribute within a development team using source code control management systems 
    • Work in a dynamic development environment and be responsible for delivering reliable software components of high quality

    Skills - Experience and Requirements

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering 
    • 2-4 years of experience developing software in C and/or C++ in Linux 
    • 2-4 years of experience developing software in a legacy codebase 
    • Familiarity with real-time operating systems 
    • Knowledge of multithreaded and/or multi-process programming 
    • Experience with software design and development best practices 
    • Knowledge of basic embedded system environment constraints 
    • Experience in solving complex technical problems 
    • Passionate about learning new technologies and development techniques 

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Familiarity with Software Development tools such as GNU Debugger (GDB), Clearcase, GIT, Jira, Agile Central, 
    • Knowledge of Java, Java Script, NodeJS, Python, SQL, JSON, HTTP, XML 
    • Extreme Programming (XP) experience with Pair Programming, Test Driven Development 
    • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or Agile software development methodology experience 
    • Automation and/or Scripting Experience 
    • RESTful APIs, microservices, and modular design experience
