    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    Software Automation Engineer - Typescript

     

    We are seeking a software automation engineer to join our QA team based in American Fork, Utah. This is an exciting position in a fast-moving project where you can provide immediate and lasting value to the company. Our revolutionary Sling TV application is changing the face of TV and every employee participates in a profit sharing program! As a software automation engineer you would be an integral part of an agile development team and primarily responsible for planning, developing and executing automated unit and integration tests that validate the quality of the features developed by your team.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Work within a Scaled Agile Framework, collaborating and communicating well with team members and project stakeholders.
    • Review specifications and write test plans and test cases.
    • Deliver products that meet business requirements with clear test reports.
    • Effectively track, report and correct any product defects.
    • Learn new skills as required.
    • Develop unit and integration tests using Swift and XCTest/Xcode.
    • Document code, test plans/cases, defects and product behavior.
    • Perform code reviews and test coverage reviews.
    • Perform other related tasks as needed to ensure team success.
    • Work with remote teams and third-party providers.
    • Collaborate with other testers and developers to improve testing processes and infrastructure.

    Skills - Experience and Requirements

    Basic Requirements:

    • BS in Computer Science or related STEM degree
    • 1 or more years of experience in software automation testing in Swift or C++ using XCtest/Xcode
    • 1 or more years of experience in automating IOS or TVOS applications
    • Understanding of the concepts and business value of automated testing
    • Self-organized with a keen attention to detail 
    • Self-motivated, displaying a high degree of self-accountability
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
    • Strong positive attitude and a demonstrated ability to accomplish complicated projects with confidence 
    • Strong commitment to department and company goals 
    • Demonstrated ability to creatively and proactively solve problems 
    • Demonstrated understanding of computer science fundamentals, including object-oriented programming and design, data structures, databases, algorithms, multithreaded development, and general debugging techniques
    • Excellent critical thinking skills
    • Excellent troubleshooting skills
    • An understanding of Agile principles, Agile processes, test driven development, automated testing, and continuous integration
    • Strong time-management skills
    • Ability to learn new programming languages and technologies 

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • A deep passion for testing and quality assurance
    • Experience testing, mobile apps
    • Experience with mobile devices, desktop and laptop computers, gaming consoles, smart televisions, and other consumer entertainment devices
    • Knowledge of Roku, Android, iOS/tvOS, Xbox, Win10, Chromecast, LG TV, Samsung TV, Chrome and Safari
    • Experience working in an Agile environment and working directly with development engineers
