    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    The Senior Database Software Engineer is a member of a highly-motivated group responsible for partnering with multiple IT and business teams to evaluate and understand complex business problems. This role will be responsible to design solutions; and develop and write complex computer programs to store, locate, and retrieve specific documents, data and information.  Will be responsible to coordinate changes to databases (Oracle and MongoDB), test and implement the changes applying knowledge of database management and data governance.   Create and test scripts and rotate within group to manage and represent software change requests, coordinate dependencies and peer reviews and release day activities.  Coordinate with and review work of off-shore resources.  Will plan, coordinate, lead and implement security measures to safeguard computer databases.  Will plan coordinate, lead and implement data solutions to support regulatory needs.  Lead large data migration from Oracle to MongoDB and persistence projects to support new business capabilities.  Participate in recruiting of new team members and lead and mentor new hire and junior staff to successful team integration and technical expectations.  Responsible for identifying new database technologies to further advance and support the business.

     

    A Senior Database Software Engineer will possess the following competencies:

    • 8+ years of Oracle development experience
    • 1+ Year of MongoDB and/or other NoSQL development experience.
    • Successful record of leading multiple complex database projects
    • Experience analyzing business requirements to design and create effective applications
    • Experience using source code control
    • Develop complex stored procedures, functions, triggers, and packages on Oracle support current and future strategic business objectives
    • Performance tuning and investigating issues with current PL/SQL code
    • Design, implement, adhere to and audit database best practices
    • Working knowledge of Hadoop, Mongo and emerging DB solutions
    • Perform and present data analysis
    • Continually seek on-going education and development to maintain domain expertise
    • Ensure accurate data capture
    • Ensure data security and compliance
    • Proactively communicate and collaborate with stakeholders, product managers and team members and ensure the technical design meets the business needs
    • Self-motivated and the ability to work with autonomy and as a scrum delivery team member
    • Proven ability to lead and mentor team members
    • Proven track record building strong relationships

    • Bachelor’s or Associate degree with preferred major in Business or Information Technology
