    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    The Data & Analytics team combines powerful household level television viewership with analytics and insights to help DISH Media Sales succeed in a rapidly evolving, data driven environment.  Understanding the business needs of our National & Digital Sales teams, constructing automated processes through scripting languages, using data to identify and create predictive models of an advertiser’s target audience, measuring the success of an advertiser’s campaign and providing visualizations through self-service tools are just a few of the day to day tasks this team is responsible for.

     

    We are now seeking a Lead Business Analyst within our New York City office, reporting to the Senior Manager of the Data & Analytics team, that will: 

    • Run a small team of business analysts to support our National and Digital Sales divisions with any data inquiries needed to execute our ad campaigns.
    • Use the DISH Set Top Box and Sling Viewership data to speak to ad campaign performance metrics (reach, frequency and lift) and provide key insights on how people consume content.
    • Establish relationships within our 3rdparty data and measurement partners to discuss campaign needs and new business dev efforts.
    • Maintain ongoing communication with leads on the Addressable and Sling teams to understand consistent business challenges and offer solutions.
    • Work with the Senior Manager to design operational workflows for the Lead Data Engineer or Lead Data Scientist to implement.
    • Own all post campaign and agreed upon ad-hoc analytics delivered to our clients.
    • Attend industry conferences and accompany the Media Sales team in face to face meetings to represent data operations.
    • Extract and analyze large datasets in databases like Netezza, Teradata, Hadoop and Redshift/AWS using SQL, Python, VBA and custom-built tools.

    Skills - Experience and Requirements

    A successful Lead Business Analyst will have the following: 

    • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university; advanced degree in a STEM field a plus.
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in an analytical role such as Data Analyst OR a degree in numerical fields (engineering, finance, math) in lieu of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Intermediate to Expert knowledge in SQL required. Familiarity with R, Python or any scripting languages a plus.
    • Comfortable working in Unix environment with a basic knowledge of shell scripting and secure file transfer protocols.
    • Experience in OTT trafficking through FreeWheel or knowledge of digital advertising best practices a plus.
    • Basic data visualization skills using Excel.  Experience in Tableau preferred.
    • Ability to successfully work and partner across various departments.
