    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    The DISH Corporate Communications team is looking for a dynamic Public Relations Specialist to join the Corporate Affairs team. This team provides communications support to several parts of the business simultaneously, including government affairs, DishLATINO, Programming, Legal and DISH Cares (the company’s CSR program). The role requires both ongoing proactive media relations, as well as occasional rapid response.  

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

    • Contribute to development and execution of media relations and social media plans.
    • Write and edit materials, including news releases, pitch emails, blog posts, newsletters and social media posts.
    • Develop local and national media lists (including Spanish-language media); compile comprehensive media reports; prepare talking points and media backgrounders for leadership and spokespersons.
    • Provide communications and program execution support for DISH Cares, the company’s corporate social responsibility program.
    • Integrate with the DishLATINO team and become a trusted advisor on matters related to communications.
    • Monitor traditional and social media outlets for coverage and competitor developments; flag for appropriate team members.

    Skills - Experience and Requirements

    Ideal Candidates will possess the following:

    • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or University; or one to two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • 1-3 years of professional PR experience; solid grasp of AP style and ability to draft all media materials based on these guidelines.
    • High degree of professionalism.
    • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Ability to meet supervisors’ and internal clients’ expectations by delivering agreed upon results; ability to complete projects within set parameters, and consistently meeting deadlines.
    • Fluency in Spanish, and experience in media relations with Spanish-language media outlets, a plus.
