    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    The Senior IT Manager of Test Quality Assurance will be responsible for all daily software quality operations for DISH Information Technology.

     

    This is a leadership-level position responsible for all Quality Engineering department activities, including direction of strategic planning, project development and implementation, and operational management of quality software. This position oversees approximately 120 individuals through a staff of five (5) managers.

    This position utilizes extensive leadership, strategic planning, operational management, communication, collaboration, management, and consulting skills. To meet stakeholder needs, the Senior IT Manager of Quality Engineering will guide the team’s strategic direction and ensure time- and cost-efficient completion of all tasks associated with the programs, projects, and services assigned to the organization.

    • Perform management activities including hiring and retaining top talent, facilitating meetings, and developing employees' skills to meet current and future objectives
    • Set technical standards in collaboration with other Engineering managers and team leads
    • Facilitate, identify, and communicate software quality goals, objectives, and metrics to executives, decision makers, and staff
    • Review and assess area accomplishments towards organizational objectives to maximize operational effectiveness
    • Facilitate consistent process and improvements
    • Build QA development practice (building/forming teams, organizational strategy)
    • Demonstrate proficiency in using common test management tools (e.g. HP ALM) and test orchestration tools (e.g. Jenkins)
    • Understand Quality-related tools and have experience evaluating appropriate toolsets. 
    • Applied understanding of Software Quality Measures in an Agile environment

     

    Skills - Experience and Requirements

    A successful Senior IT Manager will have the following education/experience: 

    • Bachelor’s Degree in related field with 8 plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Success managing high-performing teams in an Agile environment
    • Breadth of experience in various QA-related roles
    • Software development experience – preferably Java, Angular or other JavaScript framework
    • At least three years of leading software development teams or product management in an agile environment
    • Preferred: Agile Certification such as Scrum Master or SAFe Agilist
