    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    This is a highly skilled position that requires the ability to coach employees, and make decisions related to identification and remediation of equipment problems within existing processes. The position also requires individuals to think independently and support the team dynamic. The position requires a high level of understanding of all processes and functions throughout the warehouse and the ability to apply troubleshooting techniques in every area. Organizational and time management skills to complete assigned projects and tasks, sometimes with short deadlines. Self-motivated. Able to work independently and become the subject matter expert in team projects.  Good written and verbal communication skills.  This position requires that the incumbent understand and possess mastery of the core job skills required of lower levels in the career ladder, and a willingness to step in to assist these roles in the completion of their job duties.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following:

    • Accomplishes engineering team results by planning, monitoring, and tracking job results; coaching, and training on tools and processes; coordination and support of standards, policies, and procedures.
    • Maintains work flow by reporting on productivity and time efficiencies; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between employees.
    • Assists the supervisor with accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; resolving problems; reporting results of the team on end of shift summaries.
    • Evaluating new equipment and techniques.
    • Validates and provides input for trials and projects; implementing change.
    • Maintains safe and clean work environment; maintain compliance with established policies, procedures and workmanship standards;
    • Supports the labor plan by filling in for missing personnel; accomplishing work results; driving established priorities; monitoring progress; resolving problems; reporting results to the shift supervisor.
    • Interface with engineers to perform tests and provide meaningful data.
    • Ability to work with cross functional teams as necessary
    • Experience working with a Maintenance management system such as SAP-Maintenance or Mpulse is desired.
    • Familiarity with 5S, TPM and other Lean Manufacturing techniques is desired.
    • Experience with safe operation of standard power tools (drills, drivers, saws, etc.) highly desired.

    QUALIFICATIONS

     

    The Engineering Group Lead Technician possesses excellent communication skills, and works closely with other functional groups within manufacturing and distribution.  A good understanding of team dynamics and the ability to mentor other technicians is required.  The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership, technical mastery, and strong troubleshooting skills in support of operations.  Familiarity with preventive maintenance scheduling and repairs for ancillary production equipment such as bailers, compressors, air dryers, water separators, power transmission, robotics, PLC’s, and other key equipment is desired.  The candidate shall demonstrate a proficiency in time management within the confines of his or her duties.  This individual will also have a strong sense of troubleshooting and possesses effective root cause analysis skills.  The Engineering Group Lead Technician will be capable of collecting data sets to inform decisions on equipment safety, effectiveness, and longevity.

     

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and at least 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    Associates Degree in electronics, mechanical or Technical school or service training beyond high school preferred.

     

    Proficiency in Microsoft Windows operating environments is required.  Experience with Google G-Suite applications and maintenance management software is highly desired.

     

    * Military experience may be considered in lieu of a degree (Associates) or equivalent if military experience is in an applicable business role with a transferable skill set. As well as an NCO rank will be required with relevant basic military leadership courses completed.

     

    SKILLS

     

    Good written and oral communication skills.  Ability to read, interpret, and update documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization; the candidate must possess good public speaking skills.  Experience with Google software platforms is also very desirable, in addition to the regular set of Microsoft software (Excel, Word, Power Point).

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

     

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.  The incumbent will also possess an understanding of basic algebra.

     

    REASONING ABILITY

     

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with complex problems and scenarios and deliver solution based feedback.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

     

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.     The technician will respond to calls in the production floor, and all other areas where a production needs assistance; from time to time the technician will assist production at the start of the shift or on weekends during ramp up phases or layout/process changes.
