    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    The Manager of the DISH 5G Wireless Lab is the subject matter expert for the design, testing, deployment and troubleshooting of the elements of the 5G RAN and core as well as supporting the device certification program. The Lab Manager leads a talented team of design, technical, engineers to support the feature testing and deployment of the 5G systems. In this position, the lead interfaces with OEMs, R&D engineers, as well as customer engineering teams to coordinate and facilitate detailed technical planning and testing execution of the 5G network.

     

    Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories:

    • System Design and Development. Develop the application/network design documents as required for systems and features deployment of all aspects of the 5G RAN and 5G Core Network.
    • Lead a team of Engineers who are responsible for defining requirements for interoperability test as well as the CI-CD infrastructure for all aspects of the 5G RAN and 5G Core Network.
    • Manages external partner relationships driving new features, implementation/deployment and monitoring. Obtains quotes and negotiates purchases for vendor supplied SW/HW and system components.
    • Define network and service impacts between engineering, IT, and other business teams.
    • Manages the Lab budget for development and implementation.
    • Prepares and presents business cases and feasibility analysis to directors and senior leadership team to gain approval of capital expenditures and allocate resources.
    • Ensures that Wireless Lab and FOA test plans for new major releases and key features are properly approved and executed within standards.
    • Works with Region/Market to ensure best practices (RF, Operations, Network) are spread across the organization

    Skills - Experience and Requirements

    The successful Lab Manager will have:

     

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical discipline is required. Computer Science or Electrical Engineering degree is preferred.
    • 10+ years of experience in the wireless industry
    • 6+ years technical management experience in a large corporate IP, IT or Wireless Service provider networking environment.
    • 6+ years skilled at management of RFI/RFP process, capital acquisitions and contract negotiations.
    • Advanced leadership & management skills, including strategic thinking, self-awareness, and team focused
    • Mastery of Wireless Network Architecture, technologies, concepts, and industry standards.

    • Ability to work in a fast paced development environment.

    • Ability to grasp new concepts and apply them immediately.

    • Ability to communicate (oral/written) effectively and to freely share knowledge and information.

    • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstration to be self-motivated.

    • Ability to complete tasks with a sense of urgency.

    • Ability to interact with all levels of management.

    • Able to lead research and publication of technical papers.
